It doesn't matter how long you live in New York, it's still fun to look up and pretend all the buildings are giant, severed, robot penises - Liz Lemon

Today was a very long day of sightseeing.  Ruth, Jeremy and I did a City Sight's tour bus with a Statue of Liberty cruise and a trip to the Top of the Rock.  We left the apartment for the commute to Times Square around 7:30, and didn't get back to the apartment until 5:30.  10 hours of sightseeing and walking is exhausting!

On the tour, we drove through all of Upper and Lower Manhattan.  We looped around Central Park (but only entered it once on foot, so I'm glad we spent some time walking through it yesterday), and made our way all the way to Battery Park.

Our first stop on the bus where we could walk was at Riverside Church

And then a short walk over to Grant's Tomb

We boarded the bus and took a drive around the top of Central Park through Harlem, and got back off the bus at the English Garden in Central Park

For lunch, we were dropped off in Little Italy to enjoy 5 different meal choices at Grotta Azzurra

The restaurant boasts that Sinatra called it his one and only favorite Italian restaurant

Rigatoni alla Vodka (Tomatoes, cream, & vodka)

Our bus lead us down to the site of Ground Zero, where we were able to go up a few floors inside a building to get some snapshots of the reconstruction

Next, we boarded the Zephyr which ferried us on both the East River and Hudson and then to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

After boarding the bus one last time, we drove past the United Nations

My brother, Brett, sent me a text about that time with a picture of my Duke taking a nap.  The caption read "Dreaming about my mom and ny city. Love you!"

The Duke!

Our tour ended at Rockefeller Plaza where we waiting in several lines to get to the Top of the Rock!  30 Rock holds a special place in my heart, and despite rain, it was still breathtaking to see the city from so high up

Even after a long day of sightseeing, Ruth and Jeremy finished the last few projects we needed their assistance for before heading home (with a detour to Niagara Falls!) in the morning -- Thanks Ruth and Jeremy for all your help!
