"Your work experience sounds wonderful, I hope it was as interesting as it seems."

I'm a collector.  A collector of internships.  What have I done in my internships?  Oh, a little of this.  A little of that.  Work experience you say?  Oh, I've got that.  But where is my job?  I currently have a spreadsheet listing over 115 places that I have sent my resume to.  There are a lot of red blocks, because duh, my shit is color-coded.  But they don't know I'm organized.  Yeah, I used a neat font on my resume - Futura is my jam.  But they don't know why I love this font.  They just see the lines and lines of various experiences I've collected.  I'm a collector.  A collector of internships.  Do I get paid?  Sometimes, yes.  Is it worth the pay?  Usually, yes.  I have done internships I'm not proud of.  Hell, I've worked jobs I'm not proud of.  But sometimes you walk into a situation and you are getting paid nothing (or next to nothing) and you think, "I fucking love this place.  I would work here for free forever if I could!"

Yeah. I've said that.  It's happened to me.  I've fallen hard and fast for my unpaid internship.  Thinking she'd give me something more or leave me more fulfilled at the end.  Don't get me wrong, I don't regret any of these relationships, they have shaped me into something great.  They have given me the opportunity for another internship to come along and say, "Your work experience sounds wonderful, I hope it was as interesting as it seems."

I'm a collector.  A collector of internships.
